On 3/3/16 It is with great sadness that we wish to inform as many members as possible that Bert Furn passed away on Wednesday. He was a very long standing member of the club, an excellent bowler, although in latter years he only bowled in the afternoons. Bert was also a very active member of the ‘Burma Star’ team. His funeral has been arranged very quickly by his family, it is to be on:- TUESDAY 8TH MARCH at 2pm at St PETERS CHURCH, BRACKLEY And afterwards at BRACKLEY BOWLS CLUB.

On 31/10/15 Brackley BC beat Avon Valley IBC, Gaydon, Warwickshire 74-72 shots in the Denny cup, Brackley were up by over 20 shots through out most of this game,but going into last end Sam Wrights rink were 16 all and 3 up on the match,Sam found himself 4 down and killed the end.On the replayed end Brackley were holding one shot and going in to last 4 bowls ,were one down,it was decided to cover any dangers and were happy to drop the one. Brackley & District IBC celebrated its 40 years in existence on Wednesday, 12th November, 2014, with a special match against an English Indoor Bowling Association (EIBA) team lead by the association’s President Arthur Broadberry, of Melton & District IBC. He had a very distinguished party with him, including his Senior Vice President Jenny McConnell, also from Melton & District IBC, his Junior Vice President Michael Andrew of Banbury Cross IBC, Oxfordshire, plus the Chairman of the EIBA & Past President David Murley, BEM, of Rugby Thornfield IBC and Maurice Mayes, Past President and Director of International Affairs, of Wey Valley IBC, and past Presidents Edna Orchard and John Clipston. Making up the EIBA team was Arthur’s wife Bettina Broadberry, Daphne Jacobs, Don Spear, Terry Whitebread & Sue Allum. The Brackley team was captained by County Indoor & Outdoor Match Secretary, Richard Somerton, and included Tony Marks, Lindsay Urquhart, Val Scott, Don Scott, Richard Upton, Doug Hatton, Colin James, Sue Prior, Roy Houghton, Tim Hawtin & Maureen Walkley. Club President Martin Horsham welcomed the visitors and thanked them for honouring the Club by their visit, and he hoped that all would have a good match. Club and EIBA badges were exchanged to mark the occasion, and Arthur Broadberry presented an EIBA plaque to Brackley Club to commemorate the visit. The match itself was a very friendly affair, competitive and a very close one too, as the EIBA ran out winners by just 3 shots. The Final score was Brackley & District 57 shots – EIBA 60 shots. Brackley and District bowls club celebrates its 40th indoor anniversary in 2014 having set up its indoor facilities in 1974. This was the 2nd indoor facility in the County at that time. The Club has produced a National President and 9 County Indoor Presidents over the years,plus won EIBA mens triples in 1991/1992 and various county competitions. In view of the 40th anniversary, Brackley has been granted a match against a team representing the President of the England Indoor Bowls Association (EIBA). This will take place on Wednesday 12th November at Brackley Bowls Club on the Buckingham Road in Brackley starting at 2pm. It will be a Mixed match played on 3 rinks.

On sat 25th Jan Brackley played Bucks west end in a friendly Brackley welcomed four new bowlers to their ranks for their first games for the club, they were Samantha Taylor, Phyllis Walker, Roger Driver, and Geoff Wilkins. On the day, after a very keenly fought contest the Bucks West End players were too good for us with the results as follows:- Rink 1 :- Geoff Wilkins, Phyllis Walker, Lyn Upton and Graham Prior beat the rink of P.
